Book is back from the editor

I met with my publisher today, Beach Glass Books, and got the thumb drive with the suggested edits. I liked a lot of her ideas so far. Both the publisher and editor feel the book will do well. How well? Who knows. I can’t even predict that.

At this point I have a really big list and two weeks to get it done. Yikes.

Deep breath. I can do this.

I need to go through it and make some decisions and then I have to get someone to do a final proofing. So it’s a proofing after the editing. Meanwhile, … Read more...

Book draft first print. Off my computer

This is a first draft of my book. Printed on my computer. My goal, for which you are going to hold me accountable, is to finish this book and be ready to look for publishers in the fall.

The book is co-written by my late son, Charles Aubrey Rogers, and features a lot of his lyrics as chapters. It’s inside the mind of someone who suffers mental illness, addiction and has frequent thoughts of suicide. I had no idea until I read his notebooks how … Read more...

So I’m working on a book

It’s nonfiction, memoir style I guess. I’ve never done this. I’ve written ebooks for marketing–about 30 pages or so. At first it was so daunting but then, fortunately, an acquaintance of mine connected me with a writer named Susan, in Maine with whom I meet by phone.

She has written a book and her new one is about grief. She lost a brother. Her advice has been so valuable. And given that it’s a two-way street, I’m helping her start to market herself because that’s my expertise.

There are a lot of other things I need to do to get … Read more...
