PRESENTING: Drug Awareness and Prevention at Cosby High School

When

Thu, 02/01/2018
10:00 am-1:45 pm

Where

Cosby High School
14300 Fox Club Pkwy, Midlothian, VA, 23112

Event Type

Presenting to Cosby High School health science students about my story and how the funniest, most popular kid in school developed depression, became addicted to heroin and died by suicide. Charles went to this high school for 2.5 years prior to leaving the state to ultimately graduate from Wasatch Academy in Utah.

Surprisingly, many high school students are unaware of the raging drug epidemic and many of these students attended the RVA Regional summit on the opioid crisis.

Teaching two classes for the day. One class from 10-12 (lunch is in there as well) and then 12-1:45.

I help people foster a culture of connection to prevent suicide, reduce substance misuse and find life after loss. My motivational mental health keynotes, training and workshop topics include suicide prevention, addiction, mental illness, anxiety, coping strategies/resilience, and grief. As talented and funny as Charles was, letting other people know they matter was his greatest gift. And now the legacy I try and carry forward in my son's memory. Mental Health Speakers Website.
