  • We ask that you bring a journal and pen, but we will also provide some for those that are unable to do so.​
  • All workshop participants will receive Karla and Anne’s 50-page coping strategies eBook by email after the event. A few printed copies will be for sale at the event for $10

Workshop Description

This is a practical workshop with interactive strategies on managing the pain of loss. While the presenters have both lost a child, one to a brain tumor and the other to suicide, these strategies are applicable for anyone who has lost someone they love.

Facilitated by Karla Helbert, LPC, Certified Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider and Anne Moss Rogers, owner of EmotionallyNaked.com and President of Beacon Tree Foundation, a youth mental health organization. (Bios below)

  • Learn coping strategies in an interactive environment to help you manage the pain of loss
  • Learn how others have moved through grief in a healthy and productive way

Money after expenses will be donated to our local chapter of the MISS Foundation which is a grief organization focused on families who have lost a child.

Bios

Karla Helbert LPC, KarlaHelbert.com, is a licensed professional counselor (LPC), internationally certified yoga therapist, (C-IAYT), registered yoga teacher (RYT), award winning author, and a Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider certified through the MISS Foundation, the Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Family Trust and the Center for Loss & Trauma. Counseling and supporting those living with traumatic grief and bereavement is her main focus of work. Karla lost her son Theo at almost two years old due to a brain tumor. She is the author of two books on grief including Yoga for Grief and Loss and a new book publishing in spring 2019, The Chakra System in Grief and Trauma.

Anne Moss Rogers is a writer, motivational public speaker, and the owner of EmotionallyNaked.com. She is past President and past Executive Director of a youth mental health nonprofit called Beacon Tree Foundation. Prior to her twenty year old son Charles’ tragic and unexpected death by suicide at age twenty, Anne Moss owned a digital marketing firm and sold that business in 2017 to pursue mental health advocacy and suicide prevention full time. She currently has an unpublished memoir in manuscript form for which she is seeking an agent/publisher. She is a TEDx speaker and was the first suicide loss survivor ever invited to speak at the National Institute of Mental Health.

AnneMoss Rogers is a mental health and suicide education expert, mental health speaker, suicide prevention trainer and consultant. She is author of the Book, Diary of a Broken Mind and co-author of Emotionally Naked: A Teacher's Guide to Preventing Suicide and Recognizing Students at Risk with Kim O'Brien PhD, LICSW. She raised two boys, Richard and Charles, and lost her younger son, Charles to addiction and suicide on June 5, 2015. She is a motivational speaker who empowers by educating and provides life saving strategies and emotionally healthy coping skills.
