Help me by voting on my book subtitle

The publisher will have the last say on this but I’m curious what you guys think. This is not the “real” cover. I’m not a designer but I had to see what it might look like on fake cover.

The title is a go. It’s just the subtitle I’m wrestling with. So if you could vote below.

Book Description: The funniest, most popular kid in school, Charles Aubrey Rogers, suffered from depression, ultimately addiction and died by suicide. Diary of a Broken Mind focuses on the relatable story of what lead to Charles’ suicide at age twenty and answers the “why” behind his addiction and this cause of death, revealed through a mother’s story and years of his published and unpublished song lyrics. The last several chapters focus on hope and healing and how the author found her purpose and forgave herself.

  2. I loved the last line. I just left a comment to change it to young man. I love the fact that it states that Charles was betrayed by his brain because there is chemical imbalances especially when someone has used certain drugs such as ecstasy. We only have a certain amount of serotonin in our brain and this drug releases massive amounts to once. Even once you stop using opiates and go through the withdrawal you feel down for 18+ months because of the fact that your body stopped producing dopamine. He was betrayed by his brain. Thinking about you and your family this week and praying that you all find healing. I’m glad you’re all together!

  3. My son died by suicide on 12/14/97 two days before my husband of 25 years lost his battle to cancer.

I’m sorry for your loss and wish what you shared will be surrounded with healing hugs as so many are left with the biggest question “why?”

    Thanks for listening.

    1. Barbara – Thank you for sharing your heartache with me. Connecting with others who have suffered this loss helps. That is a lot of loss at once and you are a survivor. This book and his lyrics helped me work through the grief and understand the why. I read that music and I was like I could stand in his shoes and feel his pain. I needed to go there to understand. The themes in his music, a lot of them, are universal. I hope it helps others as much as it die me.
