#2 – Emotionally Naked® is a registered trademark
This means I can use the circle R and no one else can use the phrase as their own. It took about nine months to get the trademark and fortunately there were no objections. No one else can call themselves the emotionally naked speaker.
And a funny. The other day someone in a group I’m a member of asked about logos and I posted mine. Someone else replied under my logo that he would never hire me as a speaker because of the Emotionally Naked name. It had “naked” in it and therefore given his “Christian values” it would be a deal breaker for him. Clearly he is far more pious and connected to the big man than I am.
I was dying to ask, “Don’t Christians didn’t get naked?” I’m still baffled but I laughed my butt off and just let that one be.
I am an emotionally naked TEDx speaker, and author of the Book, Diary of a Broken Mind and co-author with Kim O'Brien PhD, LICSW of Emotionally Naked: A Teacher's Guide to Preventing Suicide and Recognizing Students at Risk. I raised two boys, Richard and Charles, and lost my younger son, Charles to substance use disorder and suicide on June 5, 2015. I help people foster a culture of connection to prevent suicide, reduce substance misuse and find life after loss. My motivational, training and workshop topics include suicide prevention, addiction, mental illness, coping strategies/resilience, and grief.
As talented and funny as Charles was, letting other people know they matter was his greatest gift. And now the legacy I try and carry forward in my son's memory.

Your new website looks great! Smart idea to get Emotionally Naked trademarked, too. Way to go!
