Why not? Dream a little. So maybe you can help me and I thought I’d ask you guys. I have a village that can help after all. Some of these are lofty requests, but what the hay, right? So the name of the site is emotionally naked, which means I’m going to be out with it with some requests. If you can help, contact me.
1. Stories from people of color
I have met those of other races who have lost loved ones to suicide and/or addiction. I have few of these stories on this site and I want them to be. Suicide is an equal opportunity killer as is addiction. If you are ready to talk about your loved one, contact me.
Examples of stories from other authors are here.
2. What is a suicide plan?
I would love for an LCSW or some other kind of professional to give us some examples of a suicide prevention plan–one or two that you might work out with a patient so visitors here can get an idea of what they should be asking their therapist for. To prevent suicide.
3. Looking for paid speaking engagements
Since selling my business to pursue suicide and addiction prevention (mental health advocacy) full time, I have made no money. And I need to. Too young to retire. Well, OK, not rich enough to retire. I want to continue my mental health advocacy so if you hear anything…..
4. Would love a connection to a philanthropist
As President of Beacon Tree Foundation, I have some objectives and no philanthropists have fallen out of the sky into my lap. Basically looking for a person of means who wants to help my organization, Beacon Tree, meet our objectives of preventing suicide and addiction in youth. In particular, we are looking for $10-15k to implement Preventure at one school to start with. This program focuses on mental health initiatives.
5. Sponsor for my speaking engagements
The site has officially reached over a quarter million people and I do about 50 some speaking engagements per year. I am a digital marketing expert so I know how I can add value for a sponsor.
6. I am going to write a book
I have started but have a long way to go. And seeing as how I’ve never written one, I wouldn’t mind some advice, connections etc.
it’s wonderful to have lofty goals and networking and reaching out I’m sure we’ll get the all rolling. I actually just this moment share an article with one of our well-known local philanthropist in the area Dr. W. Baxter Perkinson, Jr. I have been fortunate to work with him for many years on behalf of several nonprofits for fundraising through his artwork. In fact I’ll include the article if you’re not familiar with his background. Good luck if anyone will accomplish this, it will be you Anne Moss.

Thank you. He just recently donated a charming watercolor of a wagon with flowers to our Ride to Stop Suicide event. My former biusiness partner’s wife won the picture and was thrilled.
I am going to try and help with #1 and #2 by connecting with my friends and contacts at MHACC (Mental Health America of Central Carolinas) and HUGS (Healing and Understanding Grief from Suicide) here in Charlotte. Perhaps 3, 4, and 5 will come about from these contacts! And glad to hear about 6, I had already thought you should from reading your blog 🙂
That would be wonderful Cara!
Can’t help you with those things right now, but in the future, if something comes up, I will steer them your way….
Thank you Gray
Ditto what Amy said!
This is an awesome blogpost. People don’t know what you need/want unless you tell us. I hope many of these things will soon be met! Thanks for putting it all out there. ❤️
Thought I would give it a go!
